Letter Writing to Imprisoned People

February 20th, 2012 at 11:00am

Occupy Oakland has declared February 20th National Day of Solidarity with People in Prison. In coordination with this effort we will gather to write personal letters to prisoners of the State. When we refuse to dehumanize incarcerated people and strive instead to connect with them, we disrupt the smooth functioning of the Prison Industrial Complex by making the invisible visible if for just one day.  Bring stamps and envelopes if you can, or just yourself!

Venue Location

Firestorm Cafe & Books is located in the heart of Asheville, across the street from the downtown post office.

Bike racks can be found on Coxe Avenue across the street and one block to the south.

City buses stop at the Transit Center on Coxe Avenue between 6:30am and 10pm (Mon-Fri) or 8am and 10pm (Sat).

Street and deck parking are available nearby for our friends with internal combustion engines.
